Effective date: October 9, 2026
Not everything your browser stores is used to track you. Here we explain the cookies and other storage technologies associated with JJ Garrido, what they are used for, and how you can control them.
Your visual preference
We save your choice of light or dark mode in your browser using local storage.
Your user session
WordPress uses cookies to verify access and maintain account sessions.
Transparent changes
We do not use Google Analytics. We will update this information before introducing new measurement technologies.
Find what you need
1. Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small pieces of data that your browser retains and may send to the server in later requests. They may be used to maintain a session, remember preferences, or take measurements.
Local storage, or localStorage, saves information in your browser without automatically sending it with every request. It is not a cookie, but it also allows preferences to persist between visits.
The technologies used depend on the features you use. Visiting a public page, accessing your account, and using the WordPress editor do not necessarily create the same stored data.
2. Theme preference
We use the cb-theme key in local storage to remember your choice of light or dark mode.
- Responsible party: Ciberpioneros, LLC.
- Purpose: to retain your selected visual preference.
- Content: your theme choice; it does not contain your name or email address.
- Duration: our code does not set an automatic expiry. It may remain until you delete the site’s data, your browser removes it, or you change the preference.
If no preference has been saved, the theme uses your system’s color settings when available. Our theme does not use this storage to generate browsing statistics.
3. WordPress access and preferences
WordPress uses technical cookies for access and administration features. Names may include identifiers that vary by site and user.
Session verification and maintenance
When you access login features, WordPress may use wordpress_test_cookie to check that your browser supports cookies, and cookies such as wordpress_logged_in_* and wordpress_sec_* to identify and validate authenticated sessions.
Their duration depends on the cookie type, WordPress settings, and whether you choose to remember your session. Logging out invalidates the relevant credentials. Blocking these cookies may prevent access to your account and features that require identification.
Interface preferences
The wp-settings-* and wp-settings-time-* cookies retain WordPress interface preferences and the date they were saved. WordPress sets a default duration of one year for these cookies.
The editor may also save local preferences under names such as WP_PREFERENCES_USER_*. This storage relates to the use of editing tools; it is not needed to read articles.
The presence of this data in a browser used to administer the site does not mean it is created for all visitors.
4. Analytics and external services
Analytics
We use Umami to measure visits and use of the site. We do not use Google Analytics. Umami is hosted on our infrastructure in Germany at umami.unitydatos.com. We use visit statistics only, not user identification or session recording. Umami’s standard tracking code does not use cookies. WordPress access cookies and the theme preference are described separately on this page.
YouTube videos
When we include YouTube players, loading them may establish connections with Google and use technologies belonging to that service. This also applies to videos from our channel.
Before enabling these integrations, we will determine the technologies used and add the relevant consent controls. See also the Google Privacy Policy.
Newsletter and affiliate links
We manage the newsletter with Listmonk hosted in Germany. We measure email opens using a tracking pixel included in the emails and clicks using tracking links. We use these statistics to assess the reach and usefulness of our publications. Image loading and email clients’ privacy features may affect open measurements; a recorded open does not guarantee that the message was read. This measurement is separate from the site’s browsing cookies.
External services linked from our publications may use their own cookies when you visit them. We will update this policy if we introduce affiliate technologies that store or access information through our site.
5. How to control storage
You can view, block, or delete cookies and site data through your browser’s privacy settings. To remove the theme preference, also delete the domain’s local storage, not just its cookies.
Deleting this data may remove saved preferences or require you to log in again. Blocking storage needed for a feature may prevent it from working properly.
When a technology requires consent, a mechanism will be provided to accept or reject its use and change that choice later. Publishing this policy does not replace that mechanism or, by itself, constitute a request for consent.
6. Updates and contact
We will update this page when the technologies we use change, stating the effective date of the new version. You can find further information about data processing and your rights in the Privacy Policy.

Cloudflare security checks
We use Cloudflare to protect access to the site and Turnstile to reduce abuse of the contact form. These checks may take place automatically and require your browser to connect to Cloudflare.
Cloudflare challenges may use the cf_clearance cookie to remember that your browser has passed a check. Turnstile issues that cookie only when its pre-clearance feature is enabled; the contact form’s verification result and cookies used for access challenges are separate mechanisms. The presence and duration of these cookies depend on the site’s security settings.
These features are used for security, not to measure newsletter opens or generate Umami statistics. Blocking the required resources may prevent access or form submission. You can read the Turnstile Privacy Addendum and control cookies through your browser settings.
